Jabez Ho ARCH 1101: Studio Task 1

1) POST THREE IMAGES OF

A: YOUR BEST PIECE OF CREATIVE WORK AT HIGH SCHOOL;

This was done after Thursday lecture as my parents could not locate any of my drawings which I did during high school years. Anyway, as Russell added a remark that students should 'think laterally' or figure out other options, I started drawing straight away after searching for a building image. For the next couple of days, my hands were practically busy drawing and shading besides modifying parts of the original image. Frankly, it looks a bit fuzzy though. I was not taught in anyway before how to do shading, nonetheless, I tried my best to finish off this picture of mine. This picture means a lot to me because it is my first artwork since arriving at Sydney. Besides, I put in a lot of effort until my roommate got pretty amazed with my level of endurance. I did some modifications to the colour contrast of the picture, just to make it look as if it's a very old drawing. To validate the originality of this artwork, I have actually signed at the upper right corner of the paper. Finally, I hope this will be my launching point for greater achievements throughout my course in the coming days.

B: AN IMAGE OF A GREAT PIECE OF ARCHITECTURE

Fallingwater, one of Frank Lloyd Wright's famous design struck my attention when I was flipping through a book related to world architecture. I personally think it is great because the building is integrated with its surroundings with little impact on the surroundings. As far as it is concerned, humans have been and are still building buildings that damages the environment, produce externalities, and give no consideration for the surroundings. Fallingwater is useful for helping us to come back to learn of the intrinsic value of architecture. Indeed, this is an exemplary case of an organic architecture product, and we, as architects, should be reminded that we are to build with sustainability and with responsibility.

C: AN ORIGINAL PHOTOGRAPH OF SOMETHING BEAUTIFUL

The image as displayed above is my friend's eye snapped by me few years ago. The human eye is indeed a beautiful, sophisticated yet delicate mechanism. As one of the most vital five human senses, we get to enjoy the many wonderful things we see around us. It enables us to feast upon the beautiful creation of God. Our vision also provides us with so many opportunities in life to make our lives more memorable and meaningful.

2) FIND AN IMAGE SHOWING A WORK OF ART FROM EACH OF THE CLIENTS AND DESCRIBE IT USING A NOUN, VERB AND ADJECTIVE.
