Experiment 3 Draft 2

MADONNA:








Further development sees the use of green primarily on the Madonna wall to emphasise the 'evergreeness' of Madonna. Her immense power is showcased by the letter 'M' which suggests her name and her nick - Material Girl. The upper roof is developed and her platform will be introduced later. A variety of colours is the significance of Madonna's office.

OBAMA:









This draft only shows the front part of Obama's office. Less intense in color use, and a more formalistic style of building is seen. Transparency is obtained by full glazed windows, which somewhat hints the extent of Obama government integrity.



True enough, the eagle elevator did not come out as smooth as in GSU7. Although it looks less elegant, the color contrast used makes the elevator looks nice overall.

Experiment 3 - Draft 1

Below showcase some of the image shots of my 1st draft, and proposed lifts and dining set.

Madonna's office and lift:







Madonna's office is based on M shape in front and C shape on top, suggesting her name Madonna Ciconne. Her workspace is a more freestyle and less geometric as she is known for her various trends and styles whether during performance or her fashion. Feminine essence will be added where possible. As she favours Mother Nature, I have thought of incorporating an open air performance space on top of the roof.




Madonna's personal lift is inspired by woman's lips. Whenever people see luscious red lips, names like Angelina Jolie and Madonna would ring in one's mind. The sensuous side of Madonna is portrayed by this elevator.


Obama's office and elevator:






Obama's office layout would be more geometrical compared to Madonna's. I would incorporate a public meeting space and a big reception hall. Obama's elevator is inspired by the eagle symbol of America. Although I'm not confident that the elevator would turn out smooth and nice as in Sketchup, it defines the nationalism and pride of Obama as the President of the United States.


Dining table and chair:


A different approach altogether to formal dining. This table cum chair suggests a more intimate way of dining, as two powerful figures come together, they come with a spirit of humility and a sense of friendliness. Looking at the design, one would suppose the sitting style would be entirely on the surface of the chair. This not only registers humility as clients take off their shoes and dine, but also induces both clients to be fully focused on their time together in discussions, jokes and sumptuous food.

Experiment 3 - Clients' Selection

Three options of clients were given, namely Madonna, Obama and Prada in alphabetical order. The task was to build offices for two clients with a dining hall ala meeting space for both clients.

I have chosen Madonna and Obama. To me, both of them are pretty interesting characters, the former one being a renowned artiste and the latter as the 44th President of the United States. I had to think of the possibility of both of them meeting up and the character of their respective working spaces.



In terms of power, Madonna can be linked with some words like evergreen, dominant, trend-settler, timeless and so forth. My idea would be to build a building of vibrance and colour variety that so picture the personality and job description of this client.



Obama, known to all in the world today, is another figure who wields incredible authority. His workspace will be massive, albeit not as colorful as Madonna's. Several words are linked to him such as formal, humble, spirit of flight, elegannce and so forth.
